ACE 2008, GLEQ Name Competition Winners

ANN ARBOR – More than 400 people packed the ACE 2008 celebration of entrepreneurship Thursday night at Washtenaw Community College to hear the elevator pitch competition and find out which Michigan technology start ups won Phase I of the Great Lakes Entrepreneur Quest contest.
Here’s a quick list of the winners:
Winner of the ACE '08 Elevator Pitch Competition: RealKidz (Ms. Merrill Guerra, President/CEO, based in Ypsilanti)
RealKidz addresses the issue of childhood obesity through a unique two-pronged approach of providing desperately needed clothing to plus-size children and an online social network for parents to support them in incorporating healthy lifestyle choices into their families’ lives.
Winners of the GLEQ Phase I - New Business Idea
1st Place - OcuSciences, Inc. (Matthew Field, Ann Arbor)
2nd Place - Ajlsoft, Inc. (Linda Holloway, Clarkston)
3rd Place - Clean Emissions Fluids, Inc. (David Shaw, Harrison Township)
Winners of the GLEQ Phase I - Emerging Company
1st Place - Sci_Zone (Andrew Santangelo, Holland, Michigan)
2nd Place - BioLumix, Inc. (Gideon Eden, PhD, Ann Arbor, Michigan)
3rd Place - OPS Solutions, LLC (James Ryznar, Belleville, Michigan)
