PLYMOUTH ? Sports technology will be the theme this year of the fourth annual joint meeting between the Ann Arbor IT Zone and Automation Alley.

Alex Mills, vice president for new business development, Blue Water Technology, the audio-video providers for Super Bowl XL, Dave Wieme, director of strategic communications, Palace Sports & Entertainment, and Steve Simmons, executive vice president, Whiteside Communications Management, producers of Super Bowl XL, will talk about ?Creating the Ultimate Fan Experience: How Sports technology Shoots, Scores.?

The event, on Nov. 30 from 5-8 p.m. at the St. John?s Conference Center in Plymouth, will be moderated by WJR sports commentator Steve Courtney. Following opening remarks, WJR’s Courtney will lead a dynamic discussion on

how technology is used to produce sporting events of all types, such as a

regular season Tiger’s baseball game to events including Super Bowl XL and

Pistons’ championship games.

Mills will discuss how technology is used to create cutting edge audio and visual experiences. Wieme will discuss in-arena technology, including lighting and

scoreboards as well as how Bluetooth enables efficient concessions ordering and

delivery at large venues like the Palace of Auburn Hills. Simmons presentation will focus on the technologies used to produce large events, including the Super Bowl, and how the same technologies used to create a Super Bowl Half Time Show are used in the average office.

Immediately following the panel discussion, drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served, providing attendees with the opportunity to network with other

professionals.
